Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille is gearing up for this summer’s FIFA World Cup with a thematic release: the RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer. The watch is designed not just for style—it tracks every moment of a football match, according to Robb Report.

Richard Mille’s commercial director, Alexandre Mille, explained that the brand “thinks in concepts rather than linear evolutions,” with each new model serving as a springboard for the next innovation.

A Five-Year Caliber

The centerpiece of the RM 41-01 is a fully skeletonized titanium movement, developed over five years in collaboration with Audemars Piguet. The mechanism features:

• A tourbillon escapement

• A flyback chronograph with overlapping central minutes and seconds

• A function indicator

• A 70-hour power reserve

Football-Inspired Complications

A standout feature is the match-time indicator at 9 o’clock, which tracks the current phase of the game—including first half, second half, and two extra time periods. Each reset of the flyback chronograph advances the display to the next phase.

The watch also includes mechanical goal counters for both teams. Using pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock, the wearer can mark up to nine goals for each side before the indicator resets to zero.

Materials and Design

The RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer comes in the brand’s signature tonneau-shaped case, available in two options:

• Basalt TPT: a new burgundy-hued material made from volcanic rock, resistant to chemicals, corrosion, and UV rays

• Quartz TPT: a dark-blue variant

Every unnecessary element has been removed to showcase the microblasted bridges and intricate movement, with PVD coatings ensuring legibility in the openworked design.

Limited Edition Luxury

Only 30 pieces of the RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer will be made, each priced at approximately $1.94 million. It’s possible the watch will appear on the wrists of football stars or VIP guests at the World Cup—if they can secure one of these extremely rare timepieces.
