There is an Indian vibe at Cinema Moscow. For the sixth time in just three years, the Embassy of India in Yerevan has launched the “Festival of Contemporary Indian Films.”

The festival opened on Friday, March 27, with the film Dangal, while the official opening ceremony took place yesterday, March 28. On that occasion, the ambassador of India to Armenia, Mrs. Nilakshi Saha Sinha, also delivered a speech.

The Ambassador warmly welcomed the festival guests, thanking them for attending the event. She noticed that through contemporary Indian cinema, they aim to present realistic films to Armenian audiences.

Mrs. Nilakshi Saha Sinha added that one of the most striking characteristics of contemporary Indian cinema is its diversity.

Svetlana Sahakyan, Head of the Department of Contemporary Arts at the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, also addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of dialogue through the language of cinema, which, in her words, plays a major role in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.

After the official ceremony, the film Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway was screened in the Blue Hall of Cinema Moscow.

If you missed the first and second days of the festival, don’t worry—you still have a chance to watch one more film today, on the final day of the festival. Andhadhun will be screened at Cinema Moscow. The film tells the story of a pianist who pretends to be blind, but his life takes a dramatic turn when he becomes accidentally entangled in a murder case.

All films in the festival are screened in Hindi with English and Armenian subtitles.
