Louis Vuitton continues its major expansion into the beauty industry. The brand has unveiled the LV Crayon, an innovative lip liner that serves as the centerpiece of its new cosmetics line, La Beauté. This unique newcomer was developed under the close creative direction of legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath.
The core concept behind the LV Crayon is to translate professional backstage runway techniques into an everyday beauty routine, offering perfect precision, line control, and longevity. Priced at $58 per liner, it sets a high bar for the luxury lip liner segment, though the House traditionally relies on exclusive design and formulation to justify the cost.

The most striking feature of the new product is its shape. Instead of a standard round lead, the tip of the pencil is molded into the shape of Louis Vuitton’s famous four-petal monogram flower.
Co-developed with renowned industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, this unusual cross-section is more than just a tribute to the brand's heritage; it is an ergonomic solution. The edges of the flower design allow for ultra-precise contouring and effortless control over line thickness during application.

The formula of the LV Crayon boasts a soft, silky texture that glides effortlessly across the skin. Once set, however, it delivers phenomenal staying power—the pigment remains vibrant and smudge-proof throughout the day. The formula is also infused with nourishing and smoothing ingredients to ensure maximum comfort on the lips.
The palette features 10 universal shades, divided into several color families:
Natural nudes and delicate pinks
Deep, rich browns
Intense classic reds and dramatic plum tones
The product is designed to be the perfect companion to the LV Rouge lipsticks and LV Baume balms, which retail for $160 each (with interchangeable refills available for $69). Used together, they allow users to either subtly correct their lip shape or create dramatic, runway-ready contouring.
Pat McGrath suggests several application methods inspired by her backstage work at Louis Vuitton shows:
Bitten Lip Effect: Softly blending out the contour lines to create a natural, slightly blurred, soft-focus finish.
Structured Overlining: Emphasizing application just above the natural lip border to give the lips a boost of volume.
Gradient and Ombré: Layering the lip liner with lipstick to achieve smooth, seamless color transitions.
The '90s Trend: Recreating the ultra-trendy look that couples a dark lip contour with a clear, nourishing balm.
A full collection launch from Louis Vuitton wouldn't be complete without the brand's signature accessories. Alongside the pencils, the House introduced complementary tools with price tags that firmly reflect the collection's haute couture status:
Lip Blending Brush: $115
Branded Beauty Pencil Sharpener: $455
Luxury Lip Pencil Case (fits the full collection): $980
