Australian PM Forced to Apologize for Saying He'd Sleep with Kylie Minogue

15:23, July 7

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has issued an official apology after naming pop star Kylie Minogue while playing a hypothetical game of "shag, marry, date".

Last Thursday, Albanese appeared on the Bush Deep podcast, hosted by comedian Nikki Osborne. She asked the Prime Minister to choose between Kylie Minogue, actress Nicole Kidman, and entertainer Rhonda Burchmore.

"I’ve only just got married, six months ago," Albanese tried to dodge the question, but Osborne pressed him to make a choice.

"Oh, Kylie, definitely," he replied. "So you'd marry Kylie, sleep with her, and go on a date?" Osborne clarified.

"All of the above. She's amazing," the Prime Minister stated.

Osborne also asked Albanese if he and his wife (Jodie Haydon) still "shag like rabbits."

"Well, you know, when there’s time," he responded. "After the footy. After the footy. A Souths win is always a great aphrodisiac," Albanese added, referring to the South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby league team.

A Wave of Criticism and an Official Apology

Albanese's remarks instantly drew fierce criticism. Among the vocal critics was Senator Sarah Henderson, the Shadow Minister for Communications and Digital Safety from the opposition Liberal Party. "Anthony Albanese’s whiskey-fueled comments on the 'Deep Bush' podcast are disrespectful to women, embarrassing to Australians, and demean the office of the Prime Minister," she posted on X.

On Monday, Albanese issued an official apology through his press office. "I apologize unreservedly for these comments," the Prime Minister's statement read.
