Apocalyptic Sounds in the California Hills: The Mystery of Mount Shasta's Mountain Speakers Solved

14:40, July 10

Aliens have nothing to do with it—nobody was planning to summon extraterrestrials to Earth, NYP reports.

The mystery surrounding hundreds of "apocalyptic" speakers discovered by a California resident on Mount Shasta has finally been solved. As it turns out, the eerie audio installation actually carries a manifesto for world peace.

What began as a bizarre discovery during a horseback ride quickly spiraled into an internet detective story. Carrie Ann Snoor and her daughter accidentally stumbled upon a massive cluster of solar-powered Bluetooth speakers on the mountainside. After her video went viral, Snoor decided to dig for the truth. She managed to find out that the equipment was set up on private property bordering state public lands, eventually tracking down the landowner.

"Not Enough Vegans to Balance the World"

According to Snoor, the landowner explained that the speakers (which she initially feared were intended to "summon something sinister") were installed for a greater good. In the man's view, "there simply aren't enough vegans to balance out the world." He believes that "unless the slaughter of animals—our friends and co-habitants on this planet—stops, this heavy karma will boomerang back to us."

Snoor now views the installation as a "personal spiritual project created with purely positive intentions."

"Apparently, these speakers are a way to project words and positive messages into the universe. At the heart of his manifesto is a sincere prayer for world peace and the hope that humans will choose a more compassionate path toward one another," the equestrian shared in an Instagram update.

She added that the landowner truly believes compassion can heal most of the crises modern humanity faces today.

The Removal Bargain: 10 Vegans = Minus 1 Speaker

Snoor shared screenshots of her messages with the mastermind behind the setup, whom she labeled "Speaker Dude" to preserve the anonymity he repeatedly requested. The man revealed that he felt a profound connection to Mount Shasta from his very first visit, prompting him to return and settle there.

"Now, his manifesto is definitely going to reach much further than those little speakers ever could," Snoor noted.

Interestingly, "Speaker Dude" has promised to clear the equipment off the mountain, but he has issued an unusual challenge to internet users. He is willing to dismantle the speakers in exchange for people pledging to give up meat:

  • For every 10 people who officially pledge to go vegan, he will remove one speaker.

  • Or for every 30 people who promise to at least try vegan food and post video proof online.

  • Or for every 100 people who are already vegan and leave a comment under the viral video.
