Famous British actor and comedian Hugh Laurie, best known for his iconic lead role in the medical drama series House, has sparked a fierce debate on social media. His blunt statement regarding the inclusion of transgender athletes in women's sports has divided internet users into two camps.

The scandal erupted after a post published by Laurie on August 9 racked up more than 2.2 million views and thousands of likes. Responding to a post by Irish writer and activist Graham Linehan, the three-time Golden Globe winner made his stance crystal clear:

"First of all, go to hell; second of all, no, I don't think men should compete against women. I think I've made myself quite clear," the actor wrote.
