Hillary Clinton has already begun planning a future memorial service for her husband, Bill Clinton, RadarOnline reports, citing insiders.
The former U.S. president turned 80 on August 19, while sources cited by the outlet claim that he is also preparing to make changes to his will, which is reportedly worth around $120 million.
According to RadarOnline, Hillary, who is now 78, is allegedly considering holding a large-scale ceremony at Washington National Cathedral. The event is expected to include a traditional funeral service.
A representative for the cathedral, Elizabeth Hargrove, previously said that all living U.S. presidents have plans in place for state funerals.
Presidential historian Leon Wagener speculates that Bill Clinton could eventually be buried on the grounds of the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas.
What’s more, the historian claims that the former president may want his ashes or remains to be placed in the library’s rooftop garden.
In addition to the library itself, the complex includes a penthouse where, according to Wagener, Clinton enjoys spending time.
“He spends most of his time there because, first of all, he stays away from Hillary. It’s his refuge,” the historian said.
According to Wagener, the rooftop garden is Clinton’s “happy place,” so he may well want to be buried there despite the complex’s expansive grounds overlooking the Arkansas River.
Insiders also speculate that Bill Clinton may have made changes to his will, which is reportedly worth around $120 million.
According to Wagener, the document could contain some unexpected provisions, including potential payments to employees who work in the library’s gardens.
“I think there could be some real surprises when people find out who is named in the will,” the historian said.
Rumors about preparations for Clinton’s eventual funeral have emerged against the backdrop of his past health problems.
In 2021, the former president developed sepsis after a urinary tract infection spread into his bloodstream. He spent nearly a week in the hospital.
Clinton had previously undergone major heart surgery as well. In 2004, he underwent quadruple coronary bypass surgery, and six years later, he underwent an additional procedure to place stents in a blocked artery.
Last year, Clinton was spotted traveling with a device resembling a portable defibrillator.
Dr. Stuart Fischer, who has not treated Clinton, suggested that the former president could be prone to heart rhythm abnormalities, particularly under conditions of severe stress.
