U.S. First Lady Melania Trump’s team has come to the defense of Natalie Harp amid heightened attention surrounding the White House aide’s close relationship with President Donald Trump.
Melania’s senior adviser, Marc Beckman, decided to publicly push back against the “gossip,” which has gained renewed momentum after it emerged that Harp had received a $45,000 cash gift from the president.
Beckman expressed frustration that, in his view, the first lady’s work has been overshadowed by discussions surrounding Natalie Harp.
In an interview posted on X, the host claimed that “mainstream media don’t even want to talk about” Melania’s work during her husband’s second term in office.
Instead, the host said, journalists are “endlessly obsessed with dirty tabloid gossip about Natalie Harp,” whom she described as a loyal and hardworking White House employee and cancer survivor. She also claimed that Trump had helped Harp obtain experimental treatment that saved her life.
Beckman backed her position. “The liberal media are just ridiculous. They know nothing about the first lady’s personal and private life,” he said.
According to the adviser, journalists also ignore Melania’s accomplishments and instead attack a “hardworking, extremely talented and very smart person” — Natalie Harp.
Harp, who has been nicknamed the “human printer,” has recently found herself under increased scrutiny because of her work alongside the president. Beckman urged the media to stop discussing rumors about the first family and focus on journalism.
“They’re obsessed with gossip about this first family. And I can say personally: it’s time for them to become journalists and stop engaging in gossip,” he said.
After Escobedo noted that “there’s nothing wrong with the relationship between Harp and Trump,” Beckman again stressed that the public does not know the details of the presidential family’s private life. “The media know nothing about the private life of the first family. Period,” he said.
Meanwhile, attention on Harp intensified after the release of the president’s financial disclosures. According to the filings, Trump gave his aide $45,000, describing the payment as a “cash holiday gift.”
In total, the president gave $135,000 to three White House employees. In addition to Harp, the money went to communications adviser Margo Martin and deputy director of Oval Office operations and executive assistant to the president Chamberlain Harris. All three also receive an annual government-funded salary of $150,000.
However, it was Harp who found herself at the center of attention in recent days.
The 35-year-old aide is known for her loyalty to Trump. According to media reports, she may be behind some of the president’s posts on Truth Social. She has also been dubbed the “human printer,” with reports claiming that Harp follows Trump around with a portable printer, using it to print out positive news stories about the president.
The generous gift has already raised questions on social media. Some users suggested that such payments may not have come from Trump’s personal funds but instead could have been paid for by taxpayers. Others called for an explanation of whether such gifts comply with ethical standards.
