An American woman discovered that she was carrying a baby for mysterious Chinese billionaire Xu Bo, who has been described as the father of more than 100 children born through surrogate mothers.

The woman, identified by CBS News as “Judy” to protect her identity, has spoken publicly about her experience in one of her first interviews.

“The agency should have been completely transparent from the very beginning — before you are even matched with a surrogate. You should know exactly who you are carrying a baby for and what that family is like,” Judy said.

According to Judy, she repeatedly tried to meet the man whose child she was carrying, but none of her attempts were successful.

“That makes me start questioning: Do I even have the right to know?” she said.

Judy’s story began with an Instagram advertisement. She was offered $120,000 to become a surrogate mother.

For Judy, a single mother raising a seven-year-old daughter, it seemed like an opportunity to earn enough money to finally buy a home.

“I wanted to build a better life for myself and my daughter,” she said.

Judy eventually signed a contract with Patriot Conceptions. According to her, the agency told her that the intended parent was a single man who wanted to expand his family.

But soon, she began asking questions about how many other surrogate mothers were carrying babies for the same man at the same time.

That was when, she said, she learned there were many of them. She was allegedly told that around 20 women were involved.

“I can’t give you an exact number, but I know there were a lot. And I just sat there thinking, ‘You know, that’s a lot.’ That’s a lot of babies at one time,” Judy said.

Despite her concerns, she decided to continue with the pregnancy. She explained that she had already signed a contract and was counting on the money. Friends and relatives also encouraged her not to back out.

Meanwhile, the name Xu Bo became embroiled in a major controversy.

The 48-year-old Chinese billionaire, founder of gaming company Duoyi, leads an extremely private life and has reportedly become obsessed with building a vast family dynasty.

On social media, Xu described himself as the “first father of China” and, according to reports by The Wall Street Journal, set himself the goal of having at least “50 high-quality sons.”

According to the newspaper, Xu’s own company published social media posts claiming that he had fathered more than 100 children with the help of American surrogate mothers.

Even more shocking claims were made by Xu’s former partner, Tang Jing. She alleged that Xu had fathered at least 300 children, 11 of whom, she claimed, she personally raised for several years.

The former couple are now at the center of a legal dispute over custody of their two daughters. Xu claims that his former partner owes him millions of dollars that he spent supporting the family. He has not publicly denied her claims about the hundreds of children.

In 2022, an account linked to Xu Bo posted a video showing dozens of young boys inside a luxurious mansion. As the camera moved along a row of children, they jumped to their feet one after another and ran toward the person filming, shouting in Chinese, “Dad!”

“Imagine having a whole bunch of little ones running toward you. How does that make you feel?” the caption read.

A representative for Duoyi said that “much of what you have described is not accurate.” However, the representative declined to give their name and did not specify which claims they considered false.

Xu Bo was also reportedly inspired by Elon Musk. According to The Wall Street Journal, the Chinese billionaire dreamed that his many children would one day marry the children of the Tesla founder, creating a vast family dynasty.

Musk has previously denied reports that he offered his sperm to friends and relatives in an effort to expand his family line.

On Weibo, Xu allegedly posted fantasies about a future in which his children would marry Musk’s children.

In 2023, the story took another dramatic turn when Xu went to court in California.

A judge considered his petitions seeking to establish parental rights over four unborn children, as well as at least eight other children who had already been born through surrogate mothers whose services he had paid for.

The judge immediately scheduled a closed hearing, with Xu appearing by video link.

The billionaire said he hoped to father 20 or more children born in the United States. He reportedly preferred boys because he believed they would be better suited to eventually inherit and run his business.

According to media reports, many of Xu’s children lived in a home in Irvine, California, where they were cared for by nannies.

Xu himself told the judge that he had not yet met some of the children because of his demanding work schedule, but planned to move them to China in the future.

The judge denied Xu’s petition to establish parental rights.

As a result, the legal status and future of the unborn children were left uncertain.
