Australian fitness influencer George Armstrong found himself at the center of a viral scandal after shocking messages about his alleged infidelity appeared on his verified Instagram account.

The posts, which his wife, Bailey Scarlett, later said she had published herself, were written as though they had come from her husband. In them, Armstrong appeared to confess to encounters with prostitutes in Indonesia and escorts in Dubai, while also being accused of hypocrisy — online, he presented himself as a devoted husband, father and advocate for healthy relationships.

One post claimed that he was cheating on the mother of his child with Indonesian prostitutes. Another alleged that Armstrong had ignored his wife and daughter while arranging to meet a prostitute in Bali.

The accusations were particularly harsh when it came to his carefully cultivated public image. The posts claimed that he had simply created the persona of a “good husband” on Instagram and was, in reality, just another unfaithful man. An escort advertisement, including the price of the services, was also posted.

The posts remained online for only a few hours, but that was long enough for users to take screenshots and spread the story across social media. Reactions were mixed: some mocked the situation and described it as revenge on a whole new level, while others criticized Armstrong for portraying himself publicly as a devoted family man.

Scarlett later deleted the posts and apologized to her husband. She admitted that she had been in an extremely emotional state and had acted impulsively, saying that taking their private conflict public had been a mistake.

However, the most important clarification came later. Scarlett said that the sexual encounters she had described in the original posts did not take place during their relationship. According to her, they referred to actions from Armstrong’s past that she had experienced as a betrayal — but which she should never have made public.

“The statements I made online should have been discussed privately, not put on social media,” she acknowledged.

Scarlett also spoke about personal difficulties she had been experiencing and said she was seeking professional help.

That clarification changed the context of the story. The original posts created the impression that Armstrong had cheated on his wife, but Scarlett later stated that the sexual encounters she described had taken place before their relationship. As a result, the viral screenshots themselves do not establish that the influencer was unfaithful to his wife.

Nevertheless, the story had already become a full-blown internet spectacle. Users discussed not only the alleged infidelity, but also Armstrong’s carefully constructed image as an “ideal husband” and the method of the public retaliation itself — his wife had effectively used his own account to expose their marital conflict to his own audience.
