Marking the 25th anniversary of the Protestant Solidarity France-Armenia (SFPA) charitable organization, Pierre-Alexis Dumas, who is artistic director of Hermès—a French manufacturer specializing in leather, lifestyle accessories, perfumery, luxury goods, and ready-to-wear—on Monday introduced their new square mantles titled Letters of Yerevan.
The mantles were sewn by Karen Pétrossian, and in honor of Mesrop Mashtots, the inventor of the Armenian alphabet. The mantles will be in a very limited amount, and the proceeds from their sale will be transferred to the SFPA Armenia Office. This is the second time that Hermès assists this charitable organization. Ten years ago, it manufactured scarves titled The Gardens of Armenia.
“I am astonished at the efficiency and diligence if this nation, which has gone through thousands of ordeals,” Dumas said.
The mantles will be on sale as of April 2015, and they will cost 330 euros.
