Arto Tuncboyaciyan and Armenian Navy Band concert held in full-capacity hall (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

YEREVAN. – Renowned Armenian avant-garde musician, songwriter, and numerous instrument player Arto Tuncboyaciyan and his avant-garde folk-jazz Armenian Navy Band gave a concert at capital city Yerevan’s Yans Club. 

Armenian renowned Grammy award winingTuncboyaciyan noted, “my friends and guests” had come to their performance. The concert hall was full to capacity, and everyone enjoyed the show to a great extent.

The brainchild of this concert was Yans Club Manager Vazgen Asatryan.

“This event was [held] on the occasion of the Old [Armenian] New Year [which was celebrated on January 13]. But, as an Armenian person who loves his nation, I also wished for the first big concert in this club to be that of Arto Tuncboyaciyan; a musician whom the people love and accept. Besides, he is my friend,” Asatryan said.     

To note, aside from the Armenian Navy Band founder Arto Tuncboyaciyan, its other members likewise are distinguished musicians.  One of the leading musicians Armen Hyusnunts, the founder and head of Time Report ethno-jazz-rock band is considered the best saxophone player and is also heading the Armenian State Jazz Orchestra.

Vahagn Hayrapetyan is the best jazz keyboardist, one of the best pupils of the great American pianist Barry Harris, who had given numerous concerts in America, Russia, in the East. He has recorded two albums with American musicians and released in the U.S.

Arman Jalalyan is the only drummer in the region, which has the official status of Yamaha Artist. Bassist Vardan Arakelyan is one of the best musicians in Armenia.

Duduk player Vardan Grigoryan is a student of Jivan Gasparyan and is performing with many Western musicians. Norayr Kartashyan is a musician performing on folk wind instruments. His works can be heard in the soundtrack of Ararat, the acclaimed film by Canadian director Atom Egoyan.
