Sylvester Stallone will not be charged over 1990 rape

19:15, October 31

Sylvester Stallone will not face rape charges stemming from an alleged encounter in 1990 after two witnesses contradicted claims made by an unnamed woman.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has determined that there is insufficient evidence to arrest the Rocky star, TMZ reported.

Last December, an unnamed woman alleged that Stallone raped her 28 years ago. The actor has denied the claims.

Prosecutors said that no witnesses were able to corroborate the woman's claims against Stallone.

The woman filed a report last year with Santa Monica police about the incident which she says occurred during a 1990 meeting at Stallone's office.

Although the 10-year statute of limitations has expired, authorities investigated her claim.

Stallone, in turn, filed a complaint accusing the woman of submitting a false report against him.

Stallone admitted he knew the unnamed woman and said they spent three days together in Israel while working on a movie in 1987, three years before the alleged rape.

The film he referred to was likely Rambo III which was filmed in part in Jaffa, near Tel Aviv.

He denied raping her but did not indicate what the nature of their relationship was.
