Ed Sheeran’s Divide tour has become the most highly profitable in history, breaking the U2 record, The Guardian reported.
The tour started in March 2017. Sheeran’s tour will end in August in the UK. He had to arrange 12 shows. By the end of the tour, the number of concerts held by the performer will reach 255.
The British musician has already earned 736 million dollars for 12 concerts. The previous record of $ 735 million was set by U2 eight years ago.
Sheeran’s concerts have been attended by over 8.5 million people in 43 countries, compared with 7.3 million of U2.
“Today the Divide tour broke the all time tour record set by U2. Its now the most attended and highest grossing tour of all time. Thanks so much for each and every one of you who have come to a show. 12 shows left, will never forget it x,” he said.
The divide tour includes 255 concerts. The organizers refused to sell VIP tickets to the VIP-zone, so his tour is 14.2 percent cheaper than at U2, who had 110 performances on the tour.
