Cher explains why she turned down Elvis Presley

10:58, May 2

Cher told why she once refused the "King of Rock and Roll," Elvis Presley. During The Jennifer Hudson Show, the legendary singer was asked why she didn't date Presley after previously revealing in a separate interview that they almost crossed paths.

“It was because his reputation made me nervous. I knew his circle, and it wasn’t that they were bad people, I was just a little nervous about his reputation,” she said.

According to Cher, she is very shy and “a little shy with men.” “And the reason I date younger men is because men my age or older are all dead now. Before, they were always afraid to approach me, and young men were the only ones who did it.”

Cher's current boyfriend, music director Alexander "A.E." Edwards is 40 years younger than her. On May 20, she will turn 78.

Cher previously said that she had been a fan of Presley since childhood. “When I was 10 years old, my mother took me to Pan Pacific to see Elvis. I just... I loved him very much,” she said. “And then, when I got older, he invited me to Las Vegas... But I was so scared that I didn’t go.”

Defending her decision to turn down the "King of Rock and Roll," Cher said Presley was not in good shape: "He wasn't in good shape... He was on drugs and everything."
