The American division of L'Occitane has filed for bankruptcy. The brand plans to close 23 of its 166 stores in the US.
Following the quarantine, L'Occitane failed to raise offline sales. It was also impossible to agree with the landlords and reduce the cost of the premises.
According to The Business of Fashion, the beauty segment has steadfastly survived the pandemic. Only those brands that have always relied on sales in boutiques faced financial difficulties.
