President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian addressed letters to Kim Kardashian and singer Cher, expressing gratitude to them for their contributions to international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, RIA Novosti reports.
Sarkissian stated that the Kardashians have a major influence in the world. “It was wonderful to see how you managed to play a significant role in international recognition of the Armenian Genocide through your steps and actions. Thank you for your efforts and sincere dedication,” he wrote.
Addressing Cherilyn Sarkisian, the President recalled that the artist has always fought against denial of the Armenian Genocide and invited her to Armenia. “I hope to see you in Armenia again, just like years ago,” he wrote.
On April 24, US President Joe Biden officially recognized the Armenian Genocide that took place in the Ottoman Empire.
Before this, 23 countries had recognized the Armenian Genocide. Turkey conventionally renounces the allegations.
According to Sarkissian, Biden’s recognition “opens new perspectives for US-Armenia relations”.
