American comedian and host Chris Rock commented for the first time on the altercation with his colleague Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars.
"I'm alright. I'm alright. Healed from the nicks and bruises...for the most part," he said on WJZ-TV.
On the night of 28 March, actor Will Smith won the award for Best Actor at the Academy Awards. During the event, host Chris Rock made a joke about the actor's wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. The comedian joked about Smith's wife's very short hair, which suffers from alopecia. Smith then went up on stage, punched the showman in the face and yelled at him not to make jokes about his wife.
