Milton Gonçalves, director of the TV series ‘Isaura: Slave Girl’, died at the age of 89, Globo reported.
In 2020, the director suffered an ischemic stroke, after which he could not breathe on his own for three months, and was in the hospital under the care of doctors. It was the stroke that severely weakened his health, which subsequently caused his death.
The greatest popularity to Milton brought his directing work on the series ‘Isaura: Slave Girl’, dedicated to slavery in Brazil. In the USSR, this project, shown to audiences in 1988 and 1989, became very popular. Gonçalves also appeared as an actor and worked with Globo TV channel in more than 40 projects.
In 1986, the actor starred in the series ‘Senorita’, after which he was nominated for an Emmy Award.
