Harlem's Fashion Row (HFR), in collaboration with LVMH, will present an award honoring the legacy of Virgil Abloh. The company is dedicated to helping young designers and supporting black and Latino authors who are underrepresented on the fashion market, Hypebae writes.
The award ceremony will take place at New York Fashion Week, which takes place next month. The prize will be presented by Shannon Abloh, wife of the late designer. The description of the award states that it recognizes like-minded individuals who embody Virgil's spirit, brilliance and vision through invaluable contributions to culture, community and innovation.
This year's recipient of the award was actress Issa Rae. Designer of the Year was won by Sergio Hudson, Editor of the Year by writer Robin Givens, Stylist of the Year by Ed Samuel, and Icon of the Year by Janet Jackson.
