The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has shortlisted nominees for the 95th Academy Awards in ten categories.

The list was published by a number of foreign media, including The Hollywood Reporter. A total of 144 films were announced in the category, of which only 15 made the short list, and later this number will be reduced to five. Among the contenders were Margaret Brown's "Descendant," a documentary about the descendants of African slaves; Sara Dosa's "Fire of Love," about volcanologists Maurice and Katia Krafft; and Brett Morgen's "David Bowie Moonage Daydream."

The contenders for Best Foreign Film have also been published. In addition, the Oscar contenders for Best Short Documentary, Best Makeup and Hairstyle, Best Music, Best Song, Best Animated Short Film, Best Fiction Short Film, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects are also presented.
