Famous actor and writer Richard E. Grant will host this year's Bafta Film Awards, The Guardian reported.

Grant is best known for his role in the 1987 film Withnail & I. He commented on his appointment, noting that he is honored to be part of the Bafta ceremony for the first time."

This year, host Vick Hope and film critic Ali Plumb will take over part of the Bafta red carpet show, which will be broadcast live on Bafta social media and include interviews with nominees and other special guests.

For the first time, the ceremony will conclude with a live broadcast announcing the winners of the final four categories, allowing viewers to see instant reactions from the nominees and winners. In previous years, the ceremony was recorded and broadcast later the same day.

Films nominated for this year's awards will be presented on January 19.
