New Zealand actor Russell Crowe talked about the "Gladiator" movie sequel, the Daily Mail reported, citing the Fitzy and Wippa podcast.
Crowe said he discussed the future project with director Ridley Scott. "So I know roughly how he's shaping the story. But yeah, if you remember, there was a young kid who wanted to beat the Gladiator, which leads to the "My name is" speech. So that young kid has grown up, and he's now the Emperor. So it's not a remake. And it's not a direct sequel. It's not like the day after, you know, 30 years later or something. And then the situation arises you know, " said the actor. Crowe himself does not plan to take part in a sequel.
Since 2001, various options for a sequel to the film "Gladiator" are being developed. The project was officially approved by Paramount Pictures in 2018, in late 2022 it was reported that filming would begin soon.
