LA County has officially proclaimed April as Armenian History Month. During this whole month, several news outlets and platforms promote Armenian businesses, entertainers, media professionals, educators, and anything Armenian. A lot of well-known American Armenians participate in these events, speaking about their achievements and honoring Armenian history through their own stories.
During the Armenian Month, Fox LA also has initiated a segment for the Good Day LA morning show, which will air on Thursday, featuring interviews with renowned Armenians, which are hosted by Araksya Karapetyan and Amanda Salas. TV presenter and Food Network's Worst Cooks participant Louisa Sharamatyan is also one of those Armenians who attended the event, along with other world renowned Armenians, among them Eric Esrailian, Angela Sarafyan and Sev Ohanian. Louisa shared some photos with NEWS.am STYLE and spoke about her participation.
"Los Angeles is paying tribute by spotlighting those positively impacting their community. The goal is to talk about us surviving, striving, creating, living, procreating, and we are still here," says Sharamatyan, who is also the producer of the movie The American Good Samaritans, which is being screened for free on Vimeo from April 22 to 25. The film has won over 50 awards and screened in 35 international festivals.
The American Good Samaritans is produced by Manvel Saribekyan (of Man Pictures Production), directed by Ara Mnatsakanian, and composed by Artashes Kartalyan.
"It's a powerful film that shows how the American missionaries helped the Armenians and other Christian nations during their genocide (WW1). I joined this project towards the end when the film finished because I was amazed by the research and learned so much. My industry friend, executive producer and founder of Proximity Media, Sev Ohanian, was among the first to watch and advise us to submit to festivals. Sev said, 'I thought I knew the full story. After all my years of seeking out and learning about the horrific events of 1915, I was pleasantly surprised to watch The American Good Samaritans and realize I was wrong.'"
This film is a part of a trilogy. The first part is Map of Salvation, which shows how the European missionaries helped the Christian nations during WW1, and their genocide (Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians). The second one, The American Good Samaritans, shows how the American missionaries helped the Christian nations during WW1, and their genocide (Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians). And the third film, which is in production now, is The Golden Chain of Mercy, which will show how Australia and New Zealand helped the Christian nations during their genocide in WW1.
Map of Salvation, produced by Manvel Saribekyan (of Man Pictures Production), directed by Aram Shahbazian, also is screening on Vimeo. It’s been screened globally in over 20 countries and used as an educational tool. It is available to purchase on Amazon.
The American Good Samaritans was screened at the Glendale International film festival last year. Louisa received a Mayor’s Commendation from the former Mayor of Glendale Ardashes Kassakhian for her work on the film.
