Daniel Brühl will star in the upcoming Hulu series Becoming Karl Lagerfeld! The 45-year-old actor plays late designer Karl Lagerfeld in the series adapted from Raphael Baquet's book Kaiser Karl.

According to the synopsis, in 1972, Karl Lagerfeld (Brühl) is 38 years old and not yet sporting his iconic hairstyle. He is a ready-to-wear designer unknown to the general public. As he meets and falls in love with the sultry Jacques de Bascher (Théodore Pellerin), an ambitious young dandy, the most enigmatic of fashion designers dares to challenge his friend—and rival—Yves Saint Laurent (Arnaud Valois).

The series “takes us deep into the heart of the [19]70s, to Paris, Monaco and Rome, to follow the spectacular rise of this complex and iconic Parisian fashion personality, already driven by ambitions to become a fashion emperor. Between glamor and clashing egos, big parties and destructive passions, discover the story of Karl before Lagerfeld."

The cast also includes Agnès Jaoui as Gabrielle Aghion, the founder of the fashion house Chloé, who contributed greatly to its fame. All six episodes of Becoming Karl Lagerfeld will premiere on June 7 on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ worldwide.
