France first lady of Brigitte Macron’s life to be subject of new series

10:59, April 17

The life of the first lady of France, Brigitte Macron, will be the topic of a new series. Production company Gaumont said the six-part series, entitled "Bridget, a free woman," will follow the life of Emmanuel Macron's wife, the BBC reports.

The series will begin with the first meeting of the couple, said a screenwriter of the series. Brigitte Macron first met her current husband while working as a teacher at his high school.

The couple married in 2007, when Macron was 29 and Bridget was 54.

She continued to teach for a time, but left the job in 2015 when her husband entered politics. He was elected president in 2017.

The French press describes her as one of the few people in his circle whose opinion the president always seeks.

Gaumont said that the script for the new series will be written by French writers Bénédicte Charles and Olivier Pouponneau.

"Brigitte Macron is a fascinating character and we want to approach it in a romantic, almost melodramatic manner because of the romantic dimension of her fate."

The cast of the series has not been announced yet.
