Bearded men are more attractive: Mark Zuckerberg is proof!

20:20, April 25

Men with beards are more attractive. An edited photo of Mark Zuckerberg sporting a light tan and stubble took the internet by storm over the weekend, prompting the question: Why is it that men with facial hair are so cool?

“He went from underdog to stud in this photo,” Nnenna B., a content creator based in New York, told HuffPost.

Meanwhile, actress Crystal Luster told the aforesaid publication that the beard made the Meta founder and CEO much more attractive. Luster admitted that she reconsidered the men she had previously rejected after they grew a beard.

A 2016 study had found that men with light and thick stubble are perceived as more attractive than their clean-shaven peers. The survey had asked more than 8,500 women about their preference for men to have some kind of facial hair.

“This may be because it gives the face more definition in the jawline and increases perceptions of age and masculinity,” study author Barnaby Dixon told HuffPost.

According to the study, 10-day stubble is more desirable, while a gray, overgrown beard is not as attractive, which is likely due to the "hygienic grooming effort that women place on them." Not to mention, a man's beard contains more bacteria than dog hair, or even a toilet seat!
