An awkward moment between Donald and Melania Trump has gone viral at Donald Trump’s US presidential inauguration.

Before taking the podium to be sworn in at the Capitol, the 47th president of the leaned toward his wife and attempted to kiss her on the cheek.

But Trump couldn't reach Melania's cheek because of her navy blue, wide-brimmed hat designed by Eric Javits.

The top of Melania's hat hit Trump's forehead before Trump sat down next to Vice President J.D. Vance.

Melania, 54, sat next to her son, Barron Trump, as her husband was officially sworn in as president.

But the president did give Melania a kiss on the cheek—and this time he didn’t miss—after he was sworn in, and all five of his children hugged him.

The first lady attended the inauguration in a navy blue silk-wool coat by Adam Lippes, a navy pencil skirt, and an ivory silk crepe blouse. She completed the ensemble with her oversized hat and black leather gloves.
