The world's most expensive and unique dog has been sold for $5.7 million. The first of its kind, this dog is a cross between a wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd, reports the New York Post.
A dog lover in India has shelled out big bucks for a "wolf dog" nicknamed Kadabomb Okami, which is being touted as the rarest dog in the world.
The pup was born in the US and is only eight months old, but already weighs over 165 pounds and stands 30 inches tall.
Half-shepherd, Okami is a guard dog at heart, known for its protective instincts and intelligence, and is "never to be taken lightly." The puppy was sold to S. Satish, 51, a well-known dog breeder in Bangalore, India.
“I spent Rs 50 crore on this puppy because I love dogs, I love having unique dogs and introducing them to India,” Satish told The Sun. Satish owns over 150 different breeds of dogs.
Okami’s arrival in India certainly created a lot of excitement. One video of him on the red carpet at a film premiere, where Satish brought him, has garnered 3 million views online, the breeder claims.
The dog lover stopped breeding dogs about a decade ago, but now makes money by showing off his super dogs to adoring crowds, earning anywhere from $2,800 for 30 minutes to $11,700 for five hours.
“I spent money on these dogs because they are rare. Plus, I get enough money because people are always curious to see them,” Satish explained. “They take selfies and pictures. My dog and I get more attention than the actors.”
Also, Satish has a rare chow chow, a breed that resembles the red-and-white Qinling panda from China, which he bought for about $3.25 million last year.
All of these dogs are well cared for—they live on a seven-acre farm where each has a 20-foot by 20-foot room as an enclosure. “There’s enough space for them to roam and run around. They have six people looking after them,” the owner said. “They don’t need air conditioning because it’s chilly in the city, but they’re well taken care of.”
