Mariam Torosyan, Founder & CEO of Safe YOU, has been honored with the prestigious Cartier Women’s Initiative (CWI) Impact Award for her outstanding global impact as a social entrepreneur. The recognition marks a new milestone in her journey with Cartier, building on her earlier recognition in 2023 in Paris as the Cartier Women’s Initiative Regional Awardee for Europe. While the regional award celebrated her as a bold impact entrepreneur, the Impact Award honors the extraordinary scale and long-term change she and Safe YOU have achieved since then.

Through Safe YOU, Mariam and her team have built an AI-powered mobile app and platform that equips women and girls with emergency support, safe reporting, and access to justice. The platform operates at both the individual and systemic levels providing a lifeline for women in danger, while also helping institutions, governments, and NGOs strengthen the prevention of and response to gender-based violence.
Today, Safe YOU is active in six countries — Armenia, Georgia, Iraq, Romania, Poland, and the United States (New Mexico). To date, it has reached over 1 million women, directly impacted 52,000 women, and holds a record of 300 lives saved. These achievements reflect the platform’s role as both a technology and a movement for safety, equality, and empowerment.

“This award is recognition not only for me, but for my entire team and our growing community. It belongs to every woman who dares to dream of change, acts for equality and creates opportunities for others. Safe YOU was born from courage and solidarity, and this honor inspires us to scale even further,” said Mariam.
Cyrille Vigneron, President and CEO of Cartier International, extended his congratulations to Mariam Torosyan on this special occasion, noting:

“We are proud to stand beside Mariam and Safe YOU, whose mission aligns so strongly with Cartier’s vision of using creativity and entrepreneurship to build a more just and inclusive world.”
The Cartier Women’s Initiative Impact Awards celebrate past fellows who have demonstrated measurable, scalable, and lasting impact through their ventures. Each awardee receives USD 100,000 in grant funding, tailored human capital support, and global visibility to accelerate their growth.

The 2025 ceremony, held at the Sakai Performing Arts Center during World Expo 2025 in Osaka Japan, convened global changemakers, innovators, and leaders from across the world and Japan. Among the distinguished audience were Amal Clooney, renowned human rights lawyer, and Karlie Kloss, entrepreneur and advocate for women in STEM. Hosted by Sandi Toksvig, the evening carried the theme “Forces for Good”, shining a spotlight on women entrepreneurs as catalysts of systemic change.

The Impact Award recognizes not just the progress of individual entrepreneurs, but also the growing movement of women leading transformative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. In receiving this award, Mariam Torosyan and Safe YOU join a legacy of women who are proving that business, technology, and courage can indeed change the world.
