Brazilian designer of Armenian descent Ara Vartanian is opening a new boutique at Iguatemi São Paulo, reimagining the very concept of a jewellery space. The project is not designed as a traditional retail store, but rather as an extension of the brand’s high jewellery philosophy — a place where jewellery becomes part of a broader artistic environment, WWD reports.

The 64-square-metre space, designed by Estúdio Orth, combines architecture, interior design, and cultural references, forming a cohesive visual language. From the façade alone, the boutique signals its concept: it features rare Cristallo Pettrus quartzite, paired with solid brass, natural Imbuia wood, and textile elements inside.

Particular attention has been given to the sourcing of materials. According to the brand, the stone was extracted using rainwater and solar energy — a detail that reflects the maison’s commitment to a more responsible approach to resource extraction and production.

Vartanian himself describes the project as an attempt to “translate the world of jewellery into architectural space.” According to him, the façade is built on the contrast between the stone’s transparency and density, while the interior gains depth through darker-toned wood. Metal appears in the details — in finishes, lines, and accents — acting as a connecting thread throughout the space.

This “jewellery logic” is also evident in the architecture itself: the boutique is conceived as a kind of jewellery box. Upon entry, the space becomes more enclosed, creating an intimate, almost cocoon-like atmosphere where attention is drawn to detail and comfort. Every element is executed with jewellery-level precision — from materials to lighting.

The interior is built around natural textures, cast metals, and bespoke carpentry. Curved wooden elements guide circulation fluidly through the space, while a deep green palette and large-scale tapestry create visual continuity.

A key role is played by vintage pieces from the designer’s personal collection — including armchairs, sofas, and even a restored piano. These elements bring a sense of lived-in warmth, transforming the boutique from a showroom into a living, breathing environment.

The central idea behind the project is not merely the display of jewellery, but the creation of a space for interaction and creative exchange. Vartanian describes it as a “meeting place,” where aesthetics, dialogue, and experience come together naturally.

Located on the second floor of Iguatemi São Paulo, the new boutique strengthens the brand’s position in the luxury retail segment and continues its commitment to authorial high jewellery, where design extends beyond adornment and becomes a cultural statement in its own right.
