Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has found himself at the center of brutal internet trolling after appearing in a bizarre viral clip. In the video, the politician attempted an unconventional show of support for his partner, pop diva Katy Perry, by promoting her latest track.
The 41-year-old singer took to Instagram to share a video of herself and a group of friends dancing energetically to her new hit, Watch It Burn, which dropped on June 25. Dressed in a red polka-dot romper paired with thigh-high socks, Perry bounced to the beat and lip-synced along to her own lyrics.
At one point, her 54-year-old boyfriend joined the fun in the background. Clad in simple khaki trousers and a green T-shirt, Trudeau spent the clip jumping around and goofing off for the camera. "Ancient texts state that if you jump to this song you get 1000 years of good luck," Perry captioned the post ironically.
The video instantly exploded on X (formerly Twitter), triggering a wave of jokes and scathing commentary directed at the former prime minister. Users pulled no punches when evaluating Trudeau’s dancing skills: "Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is out here PRing Katy Perry's new song... hopping around like a rabbit. 2026 is officially wild," one commentator wrote.
"Brother forgot he used to run an entire G7 nation. It’s wild how relationships change men, absolutely crazy," another joked.
"How deeply unserious is Canada? This man was their Prime Minister, and now he’s just a background character doing side quests on Katy Perry’s TikTok," a third lamented.
The couple's age gap did not escape scrutiny either, with one user calling Trudeau's behavior "embarrassing" and pointing out that the politician is 13 years her senior.
