Cult niche perfumery Le Labo is expanding its coveted City Exclusive lineup with a brand-new olfactory tribute to Beijing: SHIU 25.
Designed as a homage to traditional sanctuaries built for quiet contemplation and self-restraint, the fragrance captures the soul of the brand's historic Beijing He Yuan Lab—a preserved Siheyuan (traditional Chinese courtyard house) nestled inside the Wang Fu Central complex.
Deborah Royer, President and Creative Director of Le Labo, describes the launch as: “An invitation to find inner peace, immerse oneself in reflection, and pause in a world that so rarely gives us the opportunity to do so.”
Bridging ancient craftsmanship with modern mindfulness, SHIU 25 serves as an olfactory sanctuary where creativity is born out of stillness.
At the heart of the perfume's narrative lies Shiu—a quieter, more soothing variation of Ho Wood, long revered for its ability to restore balance and emotional harmony.
The minimalist composition unfolds in two distinct acts:
Top & Heart Notes: Weightless whispers of powdery iris and sacred olibanum (frankincense) suspended in air.
Base & Dry-Down: A warm, grounding foundation crafted from noble woods.
Resinous, velvety, and deeply comforting, SHIU 25 wraps the wearer in an aura of pure serenity.
In true Le Labo fashion, the new scent comes housed in the brand's signature apothecary glass bottle, topped with a minimalist metallic cap and finished with a custom typewriter-style label indicating the fragrance name, creation date, and owner's name.
