Nicolas Cage’s extraordinary spending reportedly includes preparations for his final journey. The 62-year-old actor purchased an unusual nine-foot-tall pyramid-shaped tomb for himself at one of New Orleans’ most famous cemeteries.
According to RadarOnline.com, Cage commissioned an elaborate monument made of white stone at St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, where he will eventually rest among graves that are centuries old and not far from the purported burial site of Marie Laveau, the famous 19th-century Voodoo practitioner.
The National Treasure star reportedly paid between $20,000 and $61,000 for the unusual tomb during a trip to New Orleans in 2020.
A source familiar with the actor’s unusual purchases said: “Of everything Nicolas has spent money on over the years, buying a giant pyramid for his own burial is probably one of the craziest things. Most Hollywood stars may plan an elaborate funeral in advance — Nicolas practically bought himself a monument while he was still alive.”
The pyramid bears the Latin inscription “Omnia Ab Uno,” which is commonly translated as “All from One.”
Cage’s connection to New Orleans, however, goes far beyond his future burial site. In 2007, the actor purchased the infamous and reportedly haunted LaLaurie Mansion in the city’s French Quarter for $3.4 million.
The purchase of the pyramid was just one chapter in Cage’s extraordinary financial history. At the height of his wealth, the actor reportedly amassed a fortune of around $150 million. He spent his money on homes, castles, cars, animals and rare collectibles.
By 2009, however, Cage was reportedly facing around $14 million in federal tax debt.
Among his most expensive purchases was Leaf Cay, a roughly 15-acre private island in the Bahamas, which the actor bought for $3 million in 2006. He also acquired Neidstein Castle in Germany and Midford Castle in England.
At one point, the Oscar winner reportedly owned as many as 15 properties, including a beachfront mansion in Newport Beach, California, and a home in Las Vegas.
