Christie Brinkley returned to the New York runway after nearly a decade and delivered a true star-studded finale at the Dennis Basso show. The 72-year-old supermodel closed the designer’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, walking the runway to Billy Joel’s legendary hit “Uptown Girl” — the song whose iconic music video once helped make her a household name around the world.

Designer Dennis Basso turned Brinkley into the ultimate star of the finale, inviting her to close the show.

Before hitting the runway, Brinkley had her hair styled at Julien Farel’s salon, while makeup artist Sandy Linter created a striking look with a bold red lip.

“Who wouldn’t want to be in my shoes?” Brinkley said backstage.

The last time she walked a runway was in 2019, and she admits she has never considered herself a professional runway model.

“I was never a runway model. I can occasionally walk a runway, but it was never really my main thing,” she said.

This time, Brinkley was clearly enjoying every moment.

“To come to New York Fashion Week, walk the runway and wear this gorgeous dress that makes me feel like a million dollars — plus tax — it’s so much fun,” the model joked.

The Dennis Basso collection was titled “Uptown Girl,” after Billy Joel’s famous 1983 song, in whose music video Brinkley played the lead role. Her appearance at the finale was therefore an almost perfect full-circle moment.

Brinkley turned 72 in February, but she says this stage of her life has been nothing but enjoyable.

“I have to say, my 70s are amazing. When I say that number out loud, it sounds completely foreign to me. I just don’t feel 70. And I want to tell other women: don’t be afraid of aging. It’s not at all what you think it’s going to be. I’m having a wonderful time,” she said.
