Rolex has unveiled the Perpetual Padellone, a new model priced at up to $72,800 and inspired by the legendary Reference 8171, which collectors nicknamed “Padellone” in the late 1940s and 1950s. The new timepiece is a notable addition to Rolex’s modern Perpetual collection.

The watch features a 39mm case measuring 12.20mm thick, a two-part bezel — domed on top and fluted underneath — and a sapphire crystal caseback. The dial combines a textured central surface with a satin-finished outer ring. At 12 o’clock are the day-of-the-week and month indicators, while the lower portion features a moon-phase display with a blue enamel disc and full- and new-moon depictions made from meteorite.

The model’s main technical highlight is the new automatic Calibre 7190, operating at a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour and offering a 66-hour power reserve. It is equipped with Rolex’s patented Haplos annual calendar system, which allows the watch to automatically distinguish between 30- and 31-day months. The calendar requires manual adjustment only once a year, when February changes to March.
At the same time, the day, date and month change simultaneously at midnight in a fraction of a second.

The Perpetual Padellone is available in three versions. Two are crafted from 18-karat Everose gold, while the most expensive is made from 950 platinum and features Rolex’s signature ice-blue dial, a black alligator leather strap and a platinum Dualclasp buckle.
The price starts at $59,000 and reaches $72,800.
