American artist Akiane Kramarik, who rose to fame for painting a portrait of Jesus Christ at the age of eight, claims she experienced an extraordinary spiritual encounter as a child. According to the artist, when she was five, she disappeared for nearly seven hours while her family, neighbors and police searched for her throughout the area.
The 32-year-old artist recounted the experience on Sean Hannity’s podcast, Hang Out with Sean Hannity. Kramarik said that during the incident, she seemed to see everything unfolding from above.
“I remember being in this sort of special space. I could see my entire family, all the dogs and the police officers below. It was like looking through the eyes of an eagle,” she recalled.
Kramarik remembers initially feeling as though her body was drifting away before everything plunged into darkness.
Meanwhile, her mother was unable to find her daughter, her brothers searched the house, and her father received an alarming phone call. Family friends, neighbors and police officers with search dogs joined the hunt. Relatives feared the little girl had been abducted, and her photograph was circulated throughout the town.
According to the artist, the incident took place in Missouri. Her parents later told her that she had been missing for approximately six and a half to seven hours.
Kramarik claims that during that time, she experienced a journey into another world. She says God showed her extraordinary visions and imparted knowledge to her. The experience itself seemed to last far longer than the time that had passed in reality.
The incident was one of several spiritual experiences from her childhood that the artist has described over the years.
At eight, Kramarik painted Prince of Peace, a portrait of Jesus Christ that brought her international recognition. Her remarkable artistic talent established her reputation as a child prodigy.
According to Kramarik, the experience influenced not only her art but also her family’s worldview. Her parents had raised their children in a nonreligious environment, but their daughter’s account prompted them to reconsider their own beliefs.
