NEWS.am STYLE Exclusive: Famous Choreographer Mihran Kirakosyan About Eurovision and His Collaborations With Celebrities

12:08, April 13

Famous dancer and choreographer Mihran Kirakisyan is mostly known in Armenia as a celebrity dancer, who has collaborated with a lot of stars including Madonna, Ricky Martin, Selena Gomez, Shakira, Birtney Spears, Ariana Grande and etc.

In 2010, along with Emmy Mihran participated in Armenian National selections for Eurovision. Although they didn’t get the ticket to that famous Contest, their song Hey was one of the favorites of that year.

It’s been a while that we haven’t seen the dancer in Armenia. NEWS.am STYLE has recently had an interview with Mihran to find out what he is engaged in the moment and what other collaborations he has had.

-Mihran,  when was the last time you were in Armenia?

-The last time I was in Armenia was 6 years ago in 2010. Now that I think about it, it has been awhile.

-We all know about your collaborations with Madonna, Ricky Martin, Selena Gomez... Are there any other collaborations that had happened during the latest period?

-I no longer dance with artists. My collaborations with artists are more for choreography and directing. I have been working on the American TV show The Voice. I do choreography and artist directing for the shows contestants and celebrity judges like Shakira, Cee Lo Green, and Blake Sheldon. This is in collaboration with other talented choreographers and directors.

In addition, I choreographed live stage shows and music videos for Ludacris, Victoria Justice, Big Time Rush, Selena Gomez, Afrojack, Eva Simons, Basshunter and Kelly Rowland.

I also work close with the Nickelodeon network, doing choreography for their TV Shows.

At this time I am creating a new live stage dance show in collaboration with my brother Gor Kirakosian, and my father Karo Kirakosian. If everything goes according to plan, I hope to bring this show to Armenia, and possibly recreate it with dancers who live and reside in Armenia.

Also, I created an LA based production company in partnership with my brother Gor Kirakosian. The company is called Mihran K. Productions. It specializes in Films, Commercials, Music Videos, Live Staging/Choreography and Music production.

All projects mentioned above can be seen on my website: mihrank.com

-You have mentioned so many famous names…Is there any artist you wish you could work with as well?

-I have no interest, or desire to dance for any artist if that’s what you're asking. That dream and goal was accomplished long time ago. I’m in a different place in my life now, with different desires and goals.

-You're not only famous as a dancer, but also you have released some songs and music videos. Are there any other musical news you would like to share with us?

-I have never focused on considered myself a singer/rapper. I’ve done it for fun, and I’m grateful it was accepted by a lot of people. My focus now in music is working with different artists, on an artist development and management note. At the moment I manage an EDM Artist/DJ named MiM0SA. He is signed to one of the biggest agencies called CAA.

-It is said that children usually inherit the talents of their parents. What about your daughters? What hobbies do they have? Do they also love dancing and singing?

-Yes Sofia and Lilly enjoy singing and dancing. However, at 4 years old they are just regular kids doing what kids do.

-In 2010 you were trying to represent Armenia in Eurovision. Are you still interested in this Contest?

-No, I have no interest in representing Armenia for Eurovision.

-But do you follow the Contest? What would you say about this year's choice, Iveta Mukuchyan and her LoveWave?

-Honestly I have not been following Eurovision for the last 4 years. I have no idea who the past representatives have been. I’m also not familiar with Iveta, and her song.

-Do you plan to visit Armenia in the near future? Are there any projects you would like to realize here?

-At this particular moment I have no plans to visit Armenia. None the less, in my line of work things can change tomorrow. My focus at this moment is choreography, directing, production, and management.
