Troy Kirby from the world known Hi-Hat production is now in Armenia. The famous choreographer, who has worked with such celebrities as Rihanna, Shakira and Jay-Z, is now in Yerevan for making a stage performance for one of the participants of the project Depi Evratesil, Asmik Shiroyan.
When NEWS.am STYLE met Troy, he was wearing a T-shirt with the Memorial of Armenian Genocide and its symbol Forget-me-not.
He says that is not only aware of the symbols he wears, but also has learnt a lot more about Armenia before coming here.
“I started to learn before coming to Armenia, besides I have a lot of Armenian friends, one of them is Mihran Kirakosyan., by the way, he also works with Hi-Hat production”.
Troy has not seen much from Armenia yet, but there are some things he has already liked here.
“I can see that there is love among the people, which I think is amazing, because the world needs a more of that. I love the architecture, I’m really excited to see the museums, I think the food is fantastic, I ate dolma and I really liked it.”
But the real aim of Troy’s visit to Armenia is the project Depi Evratesil, during which he works with Asmik Shiroyan. The choreographer remembers how the collaboration with Armenian singer began.
“Actually our office-Hi-Hat production received a phone call, and when Hi-Hat heard the song, she loved the music and then they followed up and continued to collaborate. Hi-Hat production decided that this will be something that would be good for us as well as for Asmik. She is an amazing and a very kind person, very genuine, and now I see how her music comes that amazing, because I believe that everything comes from inside”.
The choreographer didn’t want to reveal the details of the show we will see on the stage, but one thing he knows for sure.
“If you know how great performer she is, you really won’t be surprised by anything happening on the stage. But you’re gonna be surprised by something anyway”.
And of course we couldn’t miss a conversation about the celebrity collaborations Hi-Hat production does.
“A lot of artists give trust to us. Working with any of them, like Rihanna, Jay-Z, Shakira or Mary J. Blige, they have an honestly respect for Hi-Hat and our production. We come in together and make it happen. It’s all good, it’s easy, it’s fun. And one of the coolest artists I’ve worked with is Asmik for sure”.
