Salma Hayek on her battle with COVID-19

16:31, May 20

Actress Salma Hayek battled the coronavirus for about two months. For a moment, Hayek thought she wouldn’t be able to overcome the dangerous disease. In spite of all the complications, she didn’t want to go to the hospital.

She spent the better part of the past year recovering from a near fatal case of COVID-19. Hayek spent about seven weeks isolated in a room of her house, and at one point, she as put on oxygen.

“My doctor begged me to go to the hospital because it was so bad, but I said, ‘No, thank you. I’d rather die at home,” she said and agreed that she hadn’t paid attention to her health.

Hayek managed to overcome the disease, but to this day, she still hasn’t fully regained the energy she once had. However, she returned to work in April to shoot Ridley Scott’s “House of Gucci”.

“It was not a lot of time,” Hayek says. “It was easy. It was the perfect job to just get back into it. I had started doing Zooms at one point, but I could only do so many because I would get so tired,” Hayek said in an interview with Variety.
