Actress Angelina Jolie revealed details of the harassment by Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, and also spoke about the reaction of her ex-husband Brad Pitt to what happened, The Guardian reported.
Jolie was 21 years old when she took part in the filming of Playing by Heart produced by Weinstein. The actress said that women themselves often underestimate the danger of an attack if they managed to escape.Jolie said that the experience was "beyond a pass, it was something I had to escape. I stayed away and warned people about him. I remember telling Jonny, my first husband, who was great about it, to spread the word to other guys – don't let girls go alone with him."
She stated that Pitt, knowing about what happened, has repeatedly worked on films related to Weinstein. Pitt, 57, starred in Quentin Tarantino's 2009 film "Inglourious Basterds," which was co-produced by the Weinstein Company. Later Jolie said Pitt approached Weinstein to work as a producer on the film "Killing Them Softly."
"We fought about it. Of course it hurt," Jolie said. She added that she avoided attending promotional events for the movie.
Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison in March 2020. He was found guilty of third-degree rape and first-degree sex inducement.
