American actor Jean-Claude Van Damme has received a diplomatic passport of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Actualite reported.
He explained that his task as ambassador would be to support ecology and wildlife, as well as to promote foreign investment, particularly in agriculture in the country.
He said that he realized that the country needs stability first and foremost and added that he received a lot of information from the president and his entourage.
Van Damme promised to try to convince his colleagues Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan, as well as show business and sports stars, to come to the DRC to make sure such visits are safe.
Until 1960, the Democratic Republic of Congo was a colony of Belgium.
