Director Guy Ritchie should expect a wave of criticism for misrepresenting Ukrainians in the recently released film Operation Fortune. Colin Biggs of the Las Vegas Film Critics Society wrote about this in his article published on That Shelf.

The movie was shot two years ago, and it was supposed to be released in the spring of 2022.

According to foreign media, the film was not allowed to be released because of the negative image of Ukrainians depicted in it.

Then the director was advised to change some scenes of the movie and to remove the indications about the nationality of the gangsters in the film, the Daily Mail wrote.

"Shifting the film’s release from 2022 to 2023 mitigates that somewhat, though not changing the nationality of the goons will draw criticism. Considering how easy it would be to fix over a year of delays, it’s strange that Ritchie kept it in,” Biggs wrote.

Jason Statham played the main character in the film: the spy named Orson Fortune.

And according to the plot, a gang of Ukrainian gangsters is trying to acquire a deadly weapon.
