Elizabeth Taylor documentary, featuring her never-before-seen archives, to premiere in summer

The HBO documentary, entitled Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes, directed by Nanette Burstein, premiers on August 3. The documentary will have its world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

The documentary enables Elizabeth Taylor to be told in her own voice. The legendary actress died in 2011 at the age of 79.

Also, the documentary will be accompanied by Taylor’s personal photographs, home movies, and clips from her iconic roles.

“Through newly unearthed interviews with Taylor and unprecedented access to the movie star's personal archive, the film reveals the complex inner life and vulnerability of a Hollywood legend and a life lived on the world stage,” the press release said.

“With exclusive access to Taylor's personal archives and 40 hours of newly discovered intimate audio interviews with journalist Richard Meryman, viewers are invited to rediscover not just a megastar from Hollywood's Golden Age, but a complex woman. The film chronicles the life of an actress who defied the expectations of the era by portraying strong-willed women on screen, offering a nuanced portrait of the intersection of vulnerability and strength."
