Pirates of the Caribbean actor Tamayo Perry has died in a shark attack while surfing in Hawaii.

Emergency services were called to Malaekahana Beach around 1pm local time. But Perry, who was also a lifeguard, was already dead after being brought to shore on a jet ski.

Perry played one of the pirates in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth movie in the franchise.

Perry starred also in Lost, Hawaii Five-0, Blue Crush, and the Charlie's Angels sequel Full Throttle, and appeared in Coca-Cola commercials.
