Fox 11 TV reporter on situation in Nagorno Karabakh

11:24, April 5

The situation in Nagorno Karabakh is the main subject not only for Armenians, but also people living abroad. A lot of celebrities have already expressed their concerns on this topic joining the actions against Azerbaijan. Famous reality show stars Kardashian sisters, French singer Hélène Segara have expressed their support to Armenia.

American Fox 11 TV reporter Araksya Karapetyan posted a photo of monument ''We Are Our Mountains'' (a large monument in north of Stepanakert, representing the mountain people of Karabakh) and explained the situation for the followers on her Facebook.

''Tensions remain high in Nagorno-Karabakh, a historically Armenian territory, separated from Armenia and attached to Azerbaijan by the Soviet Union. After the dissolution of the USSR in the 1990s, Nagorno Karabakh's residents exercised their right to self-determination and proclaimed themselves independent from Azerbaijan. This caused a war -- Azerbaijan attempted to retake these lands by force, but the Armenians fended them off and reclaimed Nagorno Karabagh.

For the third day in a row, clashes continue between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops, as Russia and the West are calling for a ceasefire.

Russia's President is pushing for an immediate end to the fighting. Russia's Foreign Minister says, "We are continuing contacts with Baku and Yerevan so that they hear the signals from Moscow, Washington and Paris." Russia maintains a military base and ties with Armenia.

Turkey's President has vowed to back traditional ally Azerbaijan "to the end."

Iran is urging Armenia and Azerbaijan to show restraint and is offering its help to halt the fighting'',- Araksya wrote.
