Studios STX Entertainment, which shot the film “Hustlers”, faces a lawsuit against the prototype of the protagonist Samantha Barbash. In an interview for the American publication Variety, the woman’s lawyer said that the filmmakers used the story of her life without permission and any financial compensation.
According to Barbash, Lopez personally invited her to sign a permit, but when she was refused, she still started the film in production. In turn, the studio stated that it considers its inalienable right to publish stories based on well-known facts, and is ready to resolve this issue in court. The exact amount of the claim from the former stripper has not yet been specified.
“We will defend our right to tell factually based stories based on the public record and look forward to resolving this matter before a judge,” an STX spokesperson said.
