Comedian Chris Rock has turned down an offer to host the 2023 Oscars after the Will Smith inciden,  The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The comedian during his standup show and compared such an act to returning to the scene of the crime. He drew parallels to the murder of actor O.J. Simpson's ex-wife, one of the reasons being that the woman left her glasses at an Italian restaurant.

He also added that he was offered a Super Bowl commercial, but he turned it down as well.

Will Smith stood up for his wife's honor at the 94th Academy Awards. The incident occurred after host Chris Rock made a joke about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett-Smith's haircut. Pinkett-Smith had previously talked about her hair loss problem and came to the ceremony with a shaved head. After these words, Will Smith took the stage and punched a colleague in the face.
