American director, screenwriter and producer Steven Spielberg will be the recipient of the honorary Golden Bear at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, organizers said.
Through his incredible career, Spielberg has not only bewitched generations of audiences around the world, but he has given cinema a new meaning as a dream factory, the show's program directors said in a statement.
The festival will also show a slice of Spielberg's major works. During his career, he managed to collect three Oscars, seven Golden Globes, 12 Emmy Awards and more. His semi-autobiographical film, The Fabelmans, has already been released in the U.S. and received rave reviews from critics.
