Coffee, loved by Armenians, is best ‘assistant’ in losing weight

Diet and exercise are always at the core of any successful weight loss strategy, but according to experts, there is one way to combat excess weight that does not require you to do any hard work: coffee, so beloved by Armenians!

It's no secret that caffeine can be an ideal companion on your weight loss journey. But how many cups of coffee should you drink to shed those extra pounds?

Experts Tammy Lakatos Shames and Lissy Lakatos, who are known as The Nutrition Twins, recommend 200 to 400 mg of coffee daily, the equivalent of two to five cups. This is consistent with research from the Harvard T.H. Chan, which showed that four cups of mud a day can reduce body fat by about 4%, writes NYP.

“Coffee contains caffeine, which has thermogenic effects and can speed up your metabolism, helping you burn more calories,” experts said. “Some studies have shown that it can help reduce BMI, body weight and body fat. Coffee can also curb your appetite and reduce hunger."

“Research shows that drinking coffee before a meal can reduce the number of calories you eat at your next meal, even if you drink coffee four hours before your meal. Coffee also contains chlorogenic acid, which has been shown to speed up fat burning and may help slow the absorption of carbohydrates."

“Remember that by adding creamer, whole milk or sugar to your coffee, you can easily offset any calories you burn from coffee,” experts cautioned.

A new study published in the Journal of Clinical Nutrition finds that drinking a cup of coffee a day may help with weight loss, but adding a teaspoon of sugar will negate the benefits.
